It’s hard to make a public bench cool, beautiful and historic…but it can be done as Philly based architecture firm KieranTimberlake did with some of Techtona’s reclaimed old growth teak salvaged from a 1908 Rangoon granary. The beautifully shaped early 20th century teak is set in reinforced concrete giving the seat an ultra-modern finish. The bench is all the more comfy because it was donated to the city of Philadelphia. If you find yourself at the Corner of 3rd and Fairmount, stop by and sit a while.
