One of the best-kept secrets in building today is Burmese Ironwood. Ironwood is a darker, heavier, stronger wood than teak. It has a janka rating of approximately 2150 (compared to Ipe’s 3342) making it much easier to work with than Ipe (and more sustainable). It is more cost effective than teak in many respects and is perfect for indoor flooring, paneling and exposed interior support beams within homes.
Ironwood was used much more extensively in Burma during colonial times as a framing timber, for railroad ties and large building construction. Techtona is offering reclaimed, old growth ironwood flooring, decking, siding and paneling options that are compelling given the large dimensions and finishes available View Our Burmese Ironwood Flooring Samples Here. Don’t see the finish you want? Email us an image of what you need and we will replicate it for you on a sample piece of ironwood to help you decide if this is the wood for you.
